PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a binding method for a saddle stitched book, which has comparatively few pages such as about twenty pages or less and is efficiently bound by a pasting system at a low cost. SOLUTION: A sheet 2 having printing surfaces by four pages on obverse and reverse and at right and left is printed with a printing machine. Respective sheets are gathered by a gathering machine 1, successively fed out of the delivery port of the gathering machine in the order of numbers of pages without overlapping and leaving intervals therebetween. Next, the respective sheets are transferred so as to provide a chevron folding ridge 3 along a feeding-out direction at the middle between pages. During the transferring of the respective sheets, paste 16 is applied on the folds 3 of the respective sheets. Finally, by successively gathering the respective sheets on a saddle, a saddle stitching is realized through the pastes applied on the respective sheets.
