The signalling box comprises a housing (1) with bevelled edges. Two magnifying lenses (2) are illuminated by light emitting diodes (3). The major rectangular surface (5) is covered by photoelectric cells, providing power to charge a battery, and thus operating the light emitting diodes in darkness. The illuminated signalling box for use on major roads comprises a box (1) with bevelled edges. On two of the bevelled edges there are magnifying lenses (2) illuminated by light emitting diodes (3). The major rectangular surface (5) is covered by photoelectric cells. A transparent resin protects the top of the box (1). A photoelectric cell (8), co-operating with an electronic control circuit and battery ensures the switching on or off of the light emitting diodes, and orifices (9) are provided for the assembly to be supported on fixing screws. The size of the box may, for example, be 11cm wide, 2 cm high and 40 cm long.
