PURPOSE: An illumination device for a mobile phone is provided to control an unnecessary illumination in a bright place and save a battery by adding an optical diode and adjusting the illumination brightness of a screen according to peripheral brightness environment. CONSTITUTION: An input unit(1) inputs a use signal of a mobile phone. A microcomputer(3) recognizes the use signal from the input unit(1), and generates an illumination control signal. A driving circuit unit(5) transmits the illumination control signal from the microcomputer(3). An optical sensor unit(7) receives the illumination control signal from the driving circuit unit(5), and recognizes a peripheral optical quantity for controlling a current. An LED(Light Emitting Diode)(9) illuminates a display screen of the mobile phone by the illumination control signal amplified through the driving circuit unit(5) when the optical sensor unit(7) does not recognize the optical quantity.
