PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recorder which autonomously determines and records programs to always record programs matching user's preference without any troublesome operation of the user. SOLUTION: A recorder 1 comprises an antenna 2, a tuner 3, a multiplexing demultiplexing part 4, a program information part 5, a video and audio part 6, a storage device 7, a judgment part 8, a recording control part 9, an encoder 10, a recording history update part 11, a viewing control part 12, a reproduction control part 13, a decoder 14, a viewing history update part 15, and a setting part 16. The antenna 2 receives a broadcast radio wave and the tuner 3 obtains program information from the broadcast radio wave. Further, the storage device 7 holds preference information showing the preference of the user. The judgment part 8 determines a program to be recorded according to the preference information and program information. Then the recording control part 9 records the program by storing the program in the storage means 7 according to the judgment result of the judgment part 8.
