PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording medium, an electronic camera, and an image output device by which image processing based upon characteristic information can be carried out by attaching the characteristic information previously recorded on a recording medium while associating it with an image. SOLUTION: The electronic camera 10 is equipped with a recording medium interface 179 which reads the characteristic information for setting processing contents of an image recorded on the recording medium 177, an imaging means 150 which picks up and obtains a subject image, and a recording medium interface 179 which correlates and outputs the obtained image and the read characteristic information to the recording medium 177 or a transmitting and receiving means 157 which correlates and outputs the obtained image and read-out characteristic information to other communication equipment through communication, so the image output device can perform the image processing based upon the characteristic information.
