PURPOSE: A device for cross-connecting signals of an optical transmission system and a method thereof are provided to allow a TSIU(Time Slot Interface Unit) to perform setup and release functions of LPC(Low-order Path Connection) as well as HPC(High-order Path Connection). CONSTITUTION: An HPC module-1(210) is for a TSIU to set and release HPC between a plurality of optical transceivers and an interface card, wherein the TSIU controls the cross connection between the plurality of optical transceivers of an optical transmission system and the interface card. An HPC module-2(220) sets and releases HPC between the optical transceivers and the interface card at a front-end of the HPC module-1(210). And an LPC module(230) receives signals switched by the HPC module-2(220) to set HPC then LPC between the optical transceivers and the interface card, and releases the LPC before the HPC between the optical transceivers and the interface card is released. Also, the LPC module(230) delivers signals switched for the LPC setup and release to the HPC module-1(210). |
