PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a piezoelectric actuator of ink jet printer head which is simplified in its structure, reduced in cost and easily downsized and made highly efficient, and its manufacturing method. SOLUTION: In the piezoelectric actuator of the ink jet printer head 10, ink is ejected from nozzles 21 by controlling the pressure in an ink pressure chamber by deforming a diaphragm 70 which constitutes a part of the inner wall of the ink pressure chamber 51 using the piezoelectric element 80, wherein the piezoelectric actuator of the ink jet printer head is so constituted that the diaphragm 70 is formed on the surface of the piezoelectric element 80 by a plating method, and at least the surface region of the diaphragm in contact with ink is provided with a protective layer 60 formed of a material having ink resistance properties.
