PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a flame-retardant vinyl alcohol-based membranous product, which is free from causing bleed of a flame retarder and which has excellent membrane transparency and extremely high flame retardant, and also to provide a production method thereof. SOLUTION: The flame-retardant vinyl alcohol-based membranous product comprises (A) a vinyl alcohol-based resin and (B) an aromatic phosphoric acid ester having a thermal decomposition temperature of 300 to 500 deg.C, preferably further comprises a composition containing a compound represented by formula (1) (wherein, X represents a residue of hydroquinone, resorcinol, bisphenol, bisphenol A, bisphenol F or bisphenol S, R1 to R4 each represent an 1-6C alkyl group, n represents an integer of 0 to 10, and a to d represent an integer of 0 to 3). The production method thereof is also provided.
