PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method for joining a label automatically in a labeling machine, which make it unnecessary to stop operations of the whole labeling machine and a conveyor, when labels L1 and L2 are replaced and replenished, and which can reduce the time and cost of automatic labeling work. SOLUTION: Characteristically, attention is given to the automatic joining of one label roll to the other label roll; the first or second label L1 or L2 can be fed into a label joining part 23 from a first or second label feeding part 21 or 22; and the label joining apparatus is provided with a label sucking device 34, a label sucking holder 33, a label joining piston 36, a first end detecting sensor 26, a second end detecting sensor 27, a joint end detecting sensor 35 and a part 25 for imparting slack to the label L1 or L2.
