PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate assembling work, to decrease size and weight, and to reduce a cost for repairing/checking a wheel bearing unit 1a. SOLUTION: An outer engaging groove 46 is formed on the total circumference of an inner peripheral surface of a supporting hole 32 provided on a knuckle 30. At plural places in a circumferential direction on the inner peripheral surface of the supporting hole 32, a recessed-in portion 47 recessed in an outer diameter side is formed from one end opening peripheral portion of the supporting hole 32 to a part across the outer engaging groove 46. While an outer ring 3a is inserted in the supporting hole 32, an elastic segmental circular stop ring 44 is laid over an inner engaging groove 45 formed on an outer peripheral surface of the outer ring 3a and the outer engaging groove 46. A tip end portion of a diameter-decreasing jig entering the recessed-in portion 47 is engaged with a part close to the outer periphery of the stop ring 44, thereby freely decreasing the diameter of the stop ring 44. |
