PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide nitrogen-containing phosphorus compounds which are excellent in heat stability and useful as a flame retardant, plasticizer or stabilizer. SOLUTION: The nitrogen-containing phosphorus compounds are represented by formula (1) (wherein R<1> is an alkyl group; R<2> and R<3> , which are identical to or different from each other, are each hydrogen atom or an alkyl group; Ar is an aryl group which may have a substituent; m and n, which are identical to or different from each other, are each an integer of 0 to 2; q is an integer of 0 to 5; r and s, which are identical to or different from each other, are each 1 or 2; and n and m are not 0 simultaneously). The nitrogen-containing phosphorus compounds can be prepared by reacting an aliphatic diamine with a phosphorus-containing compound.
