PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance printing power by increasing the number of sheets to be printed per unit time, to enhance convenience by eliminating a setting work troublesome for a user and to enhance reliability by avoiding erroneous detection of jam surely. SOLUTION: When matters P to be printed are carried sequentially at a specified interval and printed, a mode for measuring the overall length Lf of the matter P in the carrying direction is provided. At the time of the measuring mode, the overall length Lf of the matter P in the carrying direction is measured utilizing a sensor 2 provided in the carrying passage R of the matter P and the overall length Lf thus measured is employed as size data. |
