PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an additive for asphalt imparting excellent release- preventing properties to asphalt and aggregates, and having excellent storage stability, and to provide an asphalt composition containing the additive for asphalt. SOLUTION: The additive for asphalt contains a compound expressed by general formula (I) (wherein, R<1> is H or methyl; PO is propyleneoxy; EO is ethyleneoxy; f is an integer of 1-3, and g and h are independently an integer of 0-20) or the like, or an alkaline earth metal salt or a nitrogen-containing aromatic salt of the compound.
