The invention relates to a wheelchair which is steered by an accompanying person. The inventive chair comprises a seat, a frame, a power storage system, a control system, a pushing element with a control device, a driving shaft with a geared motor and additional wheels. The invention is characterised in that the power from the geared motor is transmitted to the driving wheels via a differential and the additional idler wheels rotate around the axis thereof and an axis that is essentially perpendicular to the ground. In this way, the wheelchair can be rotated when the accompanying person exerts a force on the pushing element.
