[Also in Divisions A4 and D1] A coherent web 12 of material such as crimped and plasticized cellulose actate filaments, other bonded fibres, or corrugated paper, for the manufacture of cigarette or other filter rods, is fed to a funnel-shaped rodforming device 16 by a drive roll 10 and idler roll 14, the rolls having parallel axes and being arranged so that the web passes over at least one fourth of the circumference of each roll and leaves the roll 14 in line with the axis of the funnel.
