METHOD FOR MIXING BEAM FORMING TECHNIQUE AND DIVERSITY TECHNIQUE IN PLURAL ANTENNA SYSTEM AND APPARATUS FOR THE SAME

PURPOSE: A method for mixing a beam forming technique and a diversity technique in a plural antenna system is provided to enhance the performance of a smart antenna by operating an antenna element selected from elements of an array antenna as the transmission and reception diversity. CONSTITUTION: An uplink information block(311) generates a correlation value by using channel information of an uplink. A comparator(312) is used for comparing the correlation value with a threshold value. A transmission mode selector(313) is used for selecting a transmission mode according to a compared result. A controller(314) is used for outputting a switching control signal or a weight vector calculation control signal. The first switching system(310) switches a transmission signal according to the switching control signal. A weight vector calculation portion(307) calculates a weight vector according to the weight vector calculation control signal. A plurality of weight vector application portions(308a-308n) apply the calculated weight vectors to transmitting signals. A plurality of adders(305a-305n) are used for adding the signals of the weight vector application portions(308a-308n). A plurality of diversity coding blocks(306a-306l) are used for coding transmitting signals to diversity signals in a diversity mode. The second switching system(304) switches the signals having the weight vectors or the coded signals. An upconverter(303) is used for converting the output signal of the second switching system(304) to an RF signal. An amplifier(302) is used for amplifying the RF signal. A duplexer(301) is used for limiting a band of the amplified signal.
