PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide television broadcast program summery reproducing equipment and method which enables adequate summery reproduction of contents of a television broadcast program. SOLUTION: A broadcast signal showing contents of at least one television broadcast program and guide data of the one television broadcast program are stored in a first storage means. Regarding at least one attribute showing program contents about each of the plural different television broadcast programs, a time range and degree of importance are previously stored as data in a second storage means. During summery reproducing operation, a broadcast signal and guide data of the one television broadcast program are read from the first storage means. Corresponding to the read guide data, a time range and degree of importance of each attribute are read from the second storage means which attribute corresponds to a television broadcast program whose contents coincide with the one television broadcast program or is similar to the program. Out of broadcast signals read from the first storage means, a partial signal of only the time length is reproduced which is based on the degree of importance corresponding to the time range of each attribute read from the second storage means.
