PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To form a binding result which is easy to open in the reading direction for a system to bind a sheet bundle, wherein images are formed, with staples. SOLUTION: The binding angle or the binding location of a staple 310 are changed from a reference state 400 in response to a combination between whether the discharging direction X of a sheet to a tray for staple binding and the direction of an image formed on the sheet are in parallel or perpendicular, and whether the opening direction of the binding result is a lateral opening or a vertical opening. For example, when the direction X and the direction of the image are in parallel, and the opening direction is the lateral opening (a case (a)), the binding angle is made steeper by a specified amount than the reference state (a state 410). In addition, the staple binding is performed in such a manner that a state (state 420), wherein the binding location is moved in parallel by a specified amount to the end edge side in the vicinity of the papers in the opening direction, may be presented. Thus, the staple 310 becomes closer to be vertical to the opening direction of the papers, and opening becomes easier compared with the reference state.
