<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a base cloth for a coat-type air bag having low gas- permeability and high rigidity in addition to excellent mechanical properties, decreased weight of the cloth and reduced rigidity difference between the warp and weft directions and, accordingly, achieving good housing performance and reduced shock energy in collision. SOLUTION: A modified cross-section fiber having a cross-section flatness of <=3.5 is used as the filament constituting the base cloth for an air bag. The surface of the cloth is coated with a resin to obtain an air bag having high mechanical properties, low gas permeability and a rigidity difference of <=10% in the warp/weft directions.</p> |
