PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a new strain extracellularly producing α-1,2-mannosidase, a method for industrially advantageously producing the α-1,2-mannosidase by using the strain, and a method for mass-producing an α-mannosyl saccharide compound such as a mannooligosaccharide by using the produced enzyme. SOLUTION: This new α-1,2-mannosidase derived from the genus Paenibacillus has activities for (a) specifically degrading an α-1,2-mannoside bond at the nonreducing terminal of α-mannan or an oligosaccharide including the α-1,2- mannoside bond, and (b) forming the α-1,2-mannosyl saccharide compound by dehydrating or rearranging the mannose or a saccharide having the α-1,2- mannoside bond at the nonreducing terminal. |
