<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the occurrence of cell transmission delay while performing address polling operation according to UTOPIA level 2. SOLUTION: Concerning each FIFO 22, the 'stored cell absence' state of storing no ATM cell in any FIFO 22 is managed and when a new ATM cell is written into any FIFO 22 in the 'stored cell absence' state, the PHY number of a PHY layer function part 1 which is a destination to transmit the new ATM cell is outputted as a transmitting address. Then, the ATM cell is transmitted after confirming whether each PHY layer function part 1 can receive the cell. By starting such address polling operation from the relevant PHY layer function part, the preferential transmission of that new ATM cell is performed.</p> |
