<p>A code is deposited on an underside of a ceramic product, such as a tile (90), prior to firing of the product, such that the code is optically readable when the product is fired. A manufacturing facility is provided, comprising means such as a press (26) for forming granular ceramic material into a formed, pre-fired 'green' product, means such as a printer (25) for applying an optically-readable heat-resistant code to an underside of the product and a kiln (34) for firing the green product.</p> |
