Vehicle windscreen washing system has a water collection device (1) for collection of water from the environment into a collection container (2), the inner space of which is linked by a connection (15) to a wash water reservoir (16). A valve (15') blocks the connection when the water reservoir reaches a maximum level (25). A further container (27) contains antifreeze for dosing of the water reservoir and is controlled by a control unit (30) dependent on the external temperature. The device also comprises a filter device for cleaning the collected water.
