PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable an operator to selectively perform a desired function by intuitively operating an operational member. SOLUTION: By vertically and laterally operating a joy stick 10 of a video camera, in a photographing mode, the respective functions of TITLE, C/RESET, FADE and DATE are worked and at such a time, respective characters presenting the respective functions are displayed on the upper, lower, left and right sides of the screen of a finder 22 together with the video of the camera. In a VTR operating mode, by vertically and laterally operating the joy stick 10, the respective functions of PLAY, STOP, REW and FF are worked and at such a time, characters presenting the respective functions are displayed on the upper, lower, left and right sides of the screen of the finder 22.
