PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce multimedia enabled disks adaptable to both personal computers and consumer equipment. SOLUTION: This invention provides the system and method for recording information on a recordable optical disk to provide a multimedia enabled disk. The method comprises a step 102 of selecting a plurality of digital still images, a step of selecting at least one audio clip, a step 104 of encoding the plurality of digital still images and the audio clip as a single MPEG bit stream, a step 105 of encoding each of the plurality of digital still images as a digital image file, and a step 106 of recording the single MPEG bit stream and the plurality of digital image files on the recordable optical disk.
