PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that there is a difference between picture qualities of read image data because there is a difference in quantity of light when an original is read with an optical system, related to a conventional original reader which comprises an original-moved reading part which reads the original while the original is moved with an optical system fixed to a prescribed position, and an optical-system-moved reading part which reads the original while an optical system is moved with the original being mounted. SOLUTION: As an example of an original-moved reading part, a DF contact glass 50a for reading the original pulled in by a DF20 using an optical system 100 is formed thinner by a height L of a guide 40 provided on the upper surface. So, the upper surface of the guide 40 provided to the DF contact glass 50a is included in a horizontal surface in which the upper surface of a contact glass 60 is contained.
