PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal display device that can reduce the cost and is excellent in display quality. SOLUTION: The liquid crystal display device is configured by holding a liquid crystal composition 300 between an array substrate 100 and an opposed substrate 200. The array substrate 100 has a reflection electrode 151 by reflecting an external light made incident from the opposed substrate 200 in a display area 102 for displaying an image. The opposed substrate 200 has an opposed electrode 204 placed in opposition to the reflection electrode 151 and a circularly polarized light board 400 for providing a prescribed phase difference to a light in a prescribed polarized light direction. At least either of the array substrate 100 and the opposed substrate 200 is provided with a shade layer SP made of a shade material the transmissivity of blue light of which is less than 60% at a shade area 41 along an outer circumferential part of the display area 102. |
