PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an energy dissipator which is small in scale and reduces the quantity of air entrained to an energy-dissipator tank. SOLUTION: An inclined inflow passage 5 is formed in such a manner as to be inclined downward from an inflow port 3; a weir 8 is provided between an inflow opening 6 at a tip of the passage 5 and an outflow part 4; and a stream of water, flowing out from the inflow opening 6, is forcedly raised by the weir 8, so that the kinetic energy of the stream of the water can be dissipated in the height direction of the energy dissipator 1. Accordingly, a distance from the inflow port 3 of the energy dissipator 1 to the weir 8 thereof is reduced. In addition, an upper part of the inflow passage 5 is composed of a removable inflow block 21.
