PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a multiplex injector having a rigid structure and producing a variable and controllable output spray. SOLUTION: The multiplex fuel injector 10 has an injector head 12, a first fuel passage provided in the injector head, and injector tips provided in the injector head and forming a first pair in fluid communication with the first fuel passage. The injector tips forming the first pair include at least one first injector tip. The multiplex fuel injector has a second fuel passage provided in the injector head, and injector tips forming a second pair in fluid communication with the second fuel passage. The injector tips forming the second pair include at least one second injector tip. By selectively controlling the flow of fuel through the first and second fuel passages, the flow of fuel through the injector tips forming the first and second pairs can be controlled.
