PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for exchanging kibbles in shaft excavation, which safely, easily, and quickly carries out kibble exchange work for taking out excavated muck from a shaft 2 by alternately exchanging the kibbles 17A, 17B, with the operator staying on a scaffold 4. SOLUTION: The method for exchanging the kibbles is comprised of the following steps. In a muck taking-out step, the kibble 17B in a muck-loading location Z is lifted up onto the ground by a kibble hoisting means 19 having a wind-up machine set on the ground. In a kibble setting step, the kibble 17A in a receding location Y on the scaffold 4 is set via an exchange location X on the scaffold 4 to the muck-loading location Z, by a kibble moving means 20 having a wind-up machine set on the scaffold 4. In a kibble receding step, the kibble 17B which has taken out the muck is returned to the exchange location X by the kibble hoisting means 19 and thereafter moved to the receding location Y by the kibble moving means 20. According to the method, work of passing the hanging kibble 17A from the kibble hoisting means 19 to the kibble moving means 20 is carried out by maintaining the hanging state of the kibble 17A at the exchange location X.
