PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To fix a main rope safely when replacing the main rope. SOLUTION: A main rope holding device is hung from a guide rail 14 for counter weights through a chain block 32. Both ends of a support beam 35 are positioned by a longitudinal direction steady brace 34 and a cross direction steady brace 37 such that the support beam 35 cannot be move in the longitudinal and cross directions. In this state, the main rope 4 is held by the holding mechanism 44 provided on the support beam 35.
