PURPOSE: A solenoid valve for a brake system is provided to reduce the size of a modulator block by simplifying the structure of the valve and reducing the size of the valve. CONSTITUTION: A solenoid valve for a brake system includes a valve housing(30); a hollow sleeve(34) coupled with the valve housing; an armature(35) movably installed in the sleeve; a valve core(36) fixed at the open end portion of the sleeve; an excitation coil(37) installed outside the valve core and the sleeve, for action of the armature; and a restoring spring(38) elastically supporting the armature, for restoring force of the armature. The valve housing is fixed to the inside of a valve-coupling hole(21) of a modulator block(20). The valve housing forms a hollow portion in the middle and forms an orifice(33) and a lateral passage. The orifice has a plunger unit extended toward the orifice through the hollow portion of the valve housing. The orifice is formed at the lower end of the valve housing without an additional valve seat and therefore, the number of parts is reduced.
