APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR JUDGING MODE

PURPOSE: An apparatus and a method for judging a mode are provided to directly analyze a decoded video signal inputted from a video processor without receiving a mode control signal output from a controller so as to automatically judge a display mode. CONSTITUTION: A mode judgement apparatus includes a mode judgement unit(21-1) and a signal processor. The mode judgement unit counts clocks generated between the current horizontal synchronous signal and the next horizontal synchronous signal of a decoded video signal inputted to judge a predetermined display mode. The signal processor(21-2) format-converts the decoded video signal to correspond to the display mode judged by the mode judgement unit. The display mode is an analog display mode or a digital display mode.
