PURPOSE: A strapping machine with an improved re-feed function is provided to minimize downtime by constituting modular components, improve automatic supply, retreat, and re-feed of a strapping material, and use only a pair of supply wheels to an automatic re-feed device. CONSTITUTION: A strapping machine(10), positioning a strapping material around an associated load and sealing the strapping material around the load, comprises a frame(12); a feed assembly(18) mounted to the frame to feed, retract and automatically re-feed the strapping material; a guide configured to receive the strapping material from the feed assembly; a strapping head(20) configured to receive the strapping material from the feed assembly via the guide and to position the strapping material around the load and seal the strapping material around the load; and a controller(112) operably connected to a drive. The feed assembly includes only one pair of reversible feed elements and the drive. The reversible feed elements are configured to automatically feed, retract and re-feed the strapping material upon an appropriate signal from the controller.
