PURPOSE: To provide an objective optical system for an optical pickup whose assembling margin is large regardless of being composed of a single lens with the number of apertures large and which hardly has performance deterioration even though eccentricity is performed within tolerance to some extent in the case of being molded. CONSTITUTION: This objective optical system 6 is a single lens obtained by performing mold molding of glass material with ≧1.6 refractive index, is configured as a both-face aspheric surface lens with the number of apertures being ≧0.8, and can converge on up to almost diffraction limit because axial wave front aberration is ≤0.07 λrms even when both faces are subjected to eccentricity to each other by 2 μm.
