PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To accurately detect the position of a missing pixel since reflection light from a manuscript surface is shielded by rubbish or the like, and to refer to a normal pixel around the missing pixel based on the detection result for correction. SOLUTION: An abnormal pixel-detecting section 27 detects an abnormal pixel position that is generated due to the adhesion of rubbish on a glass surface between a manuscript 13 and a CCD 7 from image data, where a non-image section is read before the manuscript 13 is optically read. An abnormal pixel correction section 28 corrects the image data of the read manuscript 13 according to the image information of pixels at the detected abnormal pixel position.
