PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that materials to be used for components can not be exactly and efficiently selected in evaluation of the entire product while designing the products. SOLUTION: In this design supporting device for supporting design of the product by making (a) a CAD system 1 for designing the product cooperate with (b) a material selection system 6 for evaluating candidates for the materials to be used for the components of the product to be designed by using a prescribed piece of information and for selecting one or a plurality of materials to be used for the components of the product among the candidates based on an evaluation result, selection results of the materials to be used are summed up regarding the entire of a part of the components as evaluation of the product, the evaluation and selection are repeatedly performed based on a summed up result.
