PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color image forming apparatus which can accurately align individual colors when forming a color image on a transfer medium. SOLUTION: Discrete value data based on output values from detection sensor 15 and 16 for detecting the presence or absence of a correction pattern 14 formed on a carrying belt 3 are subjected to filtering processing for cutting frequency components exceeding a frequency regarded as the correction pattern 14. The correction pattern 14 is recognized on the basis of a value obtained by the filtering processing, and a correction value to be added at the time of driving and controlling a driven body is calculated on the basis of the recognition result of the formation position of the correction pattern 14. Thus noise superposed on the output values from detection sensors 15 and 16 can be removed, and the individual colors are accurately aligned when a color image is formed on the transfer medium. |
