PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the operability and usability of a computer for a user and to prevent a display device from malfunctioning owing to careless operation. SOLUTION: A computer body 1, after processing control information for screen display incorporated in a keyboard and software by a CPU 2, sends it to the side of the display device 6 through a communication control circuit 5. A microcomputer circuit 7 in the display device 6 takes control information out of a communication control circuit 8 and controls specific parts of a video circuit 11 and a deflecting circuit 10. At this time, identification information is sent first from the side of the computer body 1 to the display device 6 and the control is allowed when the identification information matches identification information stored in a memory circuit 6.
