METHOD FOR PRODUCING PHYLLANTHUS EXTRACTS

The invention relates to a method for extracting phyllanthus, whereby (a) phyllanthus constituents are extracted with an ethanol/water mixture of 5-85 % m/m, to which a heavy metal chelating agent in a concentration of 0.001-3 % m/m is added; (b) the primary extract obtained in step (a) is mixed and concentrated with (ba) indian sterculia gum in a final concentration of 0.5- 5.0 % mm, in relation to the sum of the extractive matter, or (bb) at least one polymer and substances which can form a suspension and/or are soluble; a nd (c) the concentrated extract obtained in step (b) is dried. The inventive method enables particularly high yields of pharmacologically active plant ingredients to be obtained and is thus of particular interest for therapeuti c uses. In a preferred form of embodiment, the inventive method comprises a st ep for filtering the primary extract. It is also preferable to add a lipoid during the extraction method. The phyllanthus is preferably phyllanthus amarus. The invention further relates to pharmaceuticals containing extracts obtained by means of the inventive method.
