PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a pigment-coated paperboard for curable resin coating use affording a cured resin layer surface of high gloss thereon even if coated with a water-based active energy ray-curable resin either directly or indirectly via printing ink, followed by curing. SOLUTION: This pigment-coated paperboard for active energy-curable resin coating use is such one as to be coated with a water-soluble or water-dispersible active energy ray-curable resin composition either directly or indirectly via printing ink, wherein a pigment 0.25-7.00μm in mean particle size and <=2.00 ml/g pigment in specific sedimentation volume is included at >=30 mass% in 100 mass% of the total pigment in the pigment coating layer.
