Sterile liquid composition for pulmonary administration in aerosol form comprises a sparingly water-soluble drug in the form of suspended particles with an average size of 0.5-2 microns. An Independent claim is also included for production of such a composition by preparing a surfactant-containing suspension of the drug in the form of particles with an average size above 1 micron, reducing the average particle size to less than 1 micron and heat-sterilizing the suspension.
