PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve such a problem that in the case of applying carbon nanohorn as an adsorbent in an aqueous solution using substantially large surface area of the carbon nanohorn, it is difficult to disperse and use the carbon nanohorn in an aqueous solvent such as aqueous solutions or others because it is basically hydrophobic. SOLUTION: Hydrophilic carbon nanohorn formed by adding a functional group to a carbon structure constructing carbon nanohorn is provided. The above functional group is at least one selected from a carbonyl group, carboxyl group, hydroxyl group, ether group, imino group, nitro group and sulfo group. A method for producing the hydrophilic carbon nanohorn includes a process of subjecting the carbon nanohorn to oxidizing treatment. |
