PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a practical method for reducing frictional resistance in a pipe for an aqueous heat transfer medium and capable of increasing flow and reducing pump power by developing a surfactant excellent in effect for reducing frictional resistance in the pipe and having little load to the environment when disposed owing to its low toxicity. SOLUTION: A suitable micell shape is formed and excellent effect in reducing frictional resistance in the pipe is obtained by mixing 95-5 pts.wt. amine oxide surfactant with 5-95 pts.wt. each of 3 species of betaine-based surfactants or a mixture of >=2 species of them and adding the mixture to the water-based heat transfer medium as a heat transporting surfactant.
