The marker post (10) is particularly for indicating the position of underground supply conduits, such as gas and water pipes, hydrants or similar and comprises preferably a plastic tube anchored with a foot part in the ground. It has a head part with a flat plate for attachment of a distinguishing marking device (20), indicating the identity (18) of the underground installation. The flat plate has a field (24) lowered to the tube interior and formed as a walling (26). The identity (18) is inserted in the field and fixed with connecting devices (28) arranged in the four corner areas of the rectangular identity.
