PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a slab of which the continuous casting can be done stably without any accident of breakout or the like and which is superior in surface characteristic. SOLUTION: Powder for a Ni-group alloy composed of not less than 30 wt.% Ni and, as a remnant, Fe and unavoidable impurities, contains 30-40 wt.% CaO, 30-40 wt.% SiO2 , 10-20 wt.% Na2 O, not more than 10 wt.% Al2 O3 , 5-10 wt.% F and 1-5 wt.% C as an aggregate, and has basicity of 0.8<=CaO/SiO2 <=1.2, viscosity of 1-4 P at 1,300 deg.C, a solidification temperature of 1,000-1,300 deg.C. and moreover, the characteristic which it crystallizes on the side contacted with a mold when it is poured between the mold and a solidificated shell.
