[Class 12 (i).] A cylindrical roller bearing has an adjustable outer race ring c with an oblique slot g and a conical periphery accommodated in a conical bore in a housing a, b, adjustment to take up slackness being made by operating members k, i, screwed upon the race ring c. The latter is pressed against the walls of the housing a, b, by spreading means comprising screws n having heads o engaging a dovetail groove m in the ring. The rollers e are caged by spaced-apart end rings f. In a modification, the spreading means consists of a taper key which is forced in a correspondingly shaped slot in the race ring. The bearing is particularly applicable to the spindles of machine tools. |
