PURPOSE: To provide a method for producing acrylic acid capable of stably using a catalyst for a long time by solving problem that the catalyst in a gas inlet side deteriorates more quickly than that in a gas outlet side. CONSTITUTION: This method for producing the acrylic acid by a gas phase oxidation using a fixed bed multitubular reactor filled with a catalyst, uses a catalyst expressed by the formula (1). MoaVbAcBdCeOf (A is one or more kinds selected from the group consisting of Nb and W, B is one or more kinds selected from the group consisting of Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Zn and Bi, C is one or more kinds selected from the group consisting of P, Sn, Sb and Te.) A catalyst obtained by adjusting the kind and/or amount of the component A and/or kind and/or amount of the component B is individually filled to more than one reaction zones provided by dividing the inside of each reactor tube in the axial direction of the above reactor.
