PURPOSE: To solve the problem that a time of operating of an occupant protection device is delayed due to generation of rotational moment by the friction when a vehicle collides obliquely with an object and accordingly a weight body is rotated and rattles when moving on a slide shaft. CONSTITUTION: This device comprises a weight body 1 having a through-hole 1a and a slide shaft 2 penetrating the through-hole 1a for allowing the weight body 1 to slide and is constituted such that the through-hole 1a and the slide shaft 2 support the weight body 1 with two contacts 3a, 3b. If sectional shape of the through-hole 1a is circular, that of the slide shaft 2 is made elliptical, longer in the width direction. Or that of the slide shaft 2 is made to be an elongated circle which is longer in the width direction.
