The invention relates to a process and a system for checking a network of heating, ventilation and air-conditioning devices (HVAC devices), which check the communication capacity of one or more HVAC devices (12, 14, 16, 18, 20 and 22) in a communications network (24), said system containing a network control device (10) which sends a particular type of messages to the HVAC devices. Each HVAC device which receives the message will initiate a display on a display panel (32) located (57EN) on that HVAC device. Each HVAC device may be checked visually in order to confirm the fact that the device responds to the messages sent by the network control device (10).
